Confirm it arrived
Open My Account and check the domain is listed with its new expiry date. A quick WHOIS lookup should now name Sailexhost as the registrar.

Point your DNS
If you are moving DNS to us, recreate your A, CNAME, MX and TXT records first, then switch the nameservers. Changes can take up to 48 hours to reach everyone.

Switch on auto-renew
Turn on auto-renew and add a payment method so the domain can never lapse. We still email you before every renewal.

Lock it and stay private
Re-enable the transfer lock so nobody can move the domain without you, and keep WHOIS privacy on to keep your contact details out of the public directory.

Domain transfer FAQ
The transfer itself is free. You pay for a one-year extension of the domain at the transfer price shown in the price table, which is usually the same as a renewal. That year is added to your existing expiry date, so you lose nothing by moving.
Once you approve the confirmation email, most transfers complete within five days. Many registrars release .com and .net domains within a few hours. Country-code domains such as .ng or .co.uk follow their own registry rules and can be quicker or slower; we keep you updated in your account.
No. A transfer only changes which registrar manages the domain. Your nameservers and DNS records stay as they are, so your website and email keep working. If you want to move DNS to us as well, copy your records first and switch nameservers after the transfer completes.
It is a password that proves you own the domain. Your current provider shows it in the domain settings or emails it to you when you request it. You paste it into our checkout to start the transfer. Codes usually expire after a few weeks, so request it just before you start.
ICANN rules block transfers for 60 days after a new registration, a previous transfer or, at some registrars, a change of owner details. A domain also cannot move while the transfer lock is on, while it is expired, or while it is in dispute. The checker at the top of this page tells you exactly which of these applies.
It is safer to renew it with your current provider first and then transfer. If the domain expires during the transfer, some registries cancel the request and the domain can end up in redemption, which costs extra to recover.
The domain appears in your account with its new expiry date. WHOIS privacy is switched on where the registry allows it, and you can manage DNS, set up email, turn on auto-renew and lock the domain again from the control panel.
